Charlene Gormley The “I DARE YOU” Award is made available by the “I DARE YOU” Committee of the American Youth Foundation in cooperation with the Bucks County 4-H office, Neshaminy Manor Center, Doylestown. This is the 40th consecutive year of the award program. LEESPORT The Fourth Annual Berks County 4-H Horse Banquet was held last Saturday night.at the Kutztown Grange Hall to honor the achievements of 4-H members in the county horse clubs. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Outstanding Horse Member plaques. In the Senior Division, Tracy Picus of Wescosville and a member of the North Berks Equestrians, received a plaque for being chosen the Outstanding Senior Girl. Brian Yerger, Sluilmgton, was awarded a plaque for his achievements as Outstanding Senior Boy. Brian is a first year 4- H member in the Mohnton Light Horse and Pony club. F.M. Brown's Tack Shop, Sinking Spring, and American Bank & Trust Co., Reading, presented these awards, respectively. Lisa Rowlands a mehiber of the Mohnton club troin Leesport, was presented with a plaque for being the Outstanding Junior Girl in the Junior Division. Emmett Geesaman, of Reinholds and a Mohnton club member, received the Outstanding Junior Boy plaque. Feather Hill Western Shop, Lenhartsville, and Berks-Lehigh Farm Credit Service, Shoemakersville, presented these awards, respectively. Leaders -of the individual 4-H horse clubs also presented awards to their members. Roger Imes and Kathi McLaughlin, leaders of the Antietam Hoofbeats, presented awards to Steve and Pam Imes of Fleetwood for being Outstanding Boy and Girl of their club. Awards were also given out to those club members who had outstanding sales for their club in the recent countywide fund raiser. Receiving awards for perfect attendance at club meetings were Pete Eisen brown, Mohnton; Tish Lutz, Sinking Spring; and Lisa Rowlands, Leesport. In the In termediate Project Book category, Missy Koch, lisa Rowlands, and Robin Lebengood received recognition. And for completing their beginner books, Pete Eisenbrown, Mohnton; Becky Green, Reading; Sharon Mengel, Sinking Spring; Tiffany Lebengood, Reading; and Emmett Geesaman, Reinholds, all received recognition. Leaders of the North Berks Equestrian club, Gwen Schwoyer and Wayne Hoffman, presented Jan SecWer, Mertztown, and Carol Sell, Kutztown, awards for Out standing Senior club members. Outstanding Junior Member awards went to Steven Rohrbach, Shoemakersville, and Lisa Poper, Fleetwood. Awards were also given to members excelling in activities outside of the club. Also, an award was presented to Kacey Smith, Kutztown, for being the most improved member of the club for 1981. From the Oley Saddle-ites club, leader Raymond Mast gave out awards for Perfect Attendance to Lisa Neiffer, Boyertown; Sharon Moser, Oley; Debbie Price, Douglassville; and Lisa Powell. Kirk Fisher, Oley, and Debbie Price, Douglassville, were honored for being the outstanding male and female members in the club for 1981. Awards for members in the Wrowdy Wranglers horse club were presented by leaders Deborah Allen and Sandy Lawrence. Meg Allen of Shoemakersville and outgoing President of the club, was presented an award for Out standing Leadership. Meg also received honors for being Out standing Senior Showman. Chanin Weber, Bemville, was given the Outstanding Junior Showman Award. Cathy OUinger, Mohr sville, was presented with an award for being the most improved club member, and Candy Shappell, Hamburg, received the Most Enthusiastic Club Member award.
