For the program, the County line band entertained. USDA reports export sales for China WASHINGTON, D.C, - Private exporters last Tuesday reported to the U.S. Department of Agriculture export sales of 400,000 metric tons of wheat for delivery to China during the second year of the U.S.-China Grain Agreement. Exports will be made during the 1981-82 marketing year, which runs from June 1 to May 31. To date, China sales for delivery during the second agreement year - Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 1982 - total 1,372,000 tons of wheat. China sales and exports of wheat and com for delivery during the first agreement year Jan. 1 to Dec. 31,1981 - total 7,449,800 tons of wheat and 342,900 tons of com. This includes 2,759,000 tons of wheat and 215,100 tons of com for the 1980-81 marketing year, and 4,690,800 tons of wheat and 127,800 tons of com for the 1981-82 marketing year. HONESDALE - The 1982 Wayne County 4-H Market Steer Feeding Program will be starting soon. Most of the steers will be fed gram, hay and water plus salt and minerals. Other forages that are fed to some of the steers include; high- 21 issue. - All submissions should be in by December 17. 'Over the past few years, a majority of the steers 'have been Polled Herefords, with the other steers being Angus, Charolais and Crossbred steers like the Angus-Hereford cross, the Hereford-Simmental cross and the Angus-Simmental cross. All of the steers wUI be ear tagged, weighed and unplanted with a growth prbmotant after December 1. Beef steers should weigh between3so andsoopounds when they are placed on feed. The 4-H member then has the responsibility of feeding and managing the beef steer for the next eight months. This includes feeding the steer properly, making sure that the steer is free of in ternal and external parasites, keeping the steer dry and com fortable and teaching him how to lead and respond to commands. LINCOLN The Lincoln 4-H community club recently held their annual capon contest under the sponsorship of the Denver Lion’s club. Tony Eberly, local poultry fanner and FFA member served as judge. The champion trophy was sponsored by Galen’s Hard ware of Ephrata. Winners in this year’s contest are as follows: I. Ed Redcay, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Redcay of R 2 Denver; 2. All ofthe beef steers are exhibited in the Wayne County Junior Market Steer Show. The steers compete in "type or conformation” classes, and the 4-H member competes for showmanship and fitting awards. The 4-H Market Steer Feeding Program concludes when the steers are sold in the Junior Livestock Auction, which is held on Saturday evening of fair week.
