Wisnieski has been appointed the first executive director of Pennsylvania Friends of 4-H. She will coordinate all “Friends” activities and is responsible for developing private and public funding for the support of the 4-H program. Wisnieski, who works out of the state 4-H office at University Park, was formerly director of development for the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Heart Association and administered six fund raising campaigns for the five-county unit. She directed 2,000 volunteers in the campaigns which included special gifts, business and industry, clubs and organizations, a memorial program, and house to house solicitation. She also planned and carried out all special events that were part of the fund raising effort. Wisnieski says she finds fund raising challenging and rewar ding. “No two campaigns can be the same if you want to get the job done,” she adds. She is pleased that so many state and county Extension staff have already shown their support by becoming N.J. youth wins beef championship BELVIDERE, N.J. - John Harnett, 14, Blairstown, N.J., became the first Warren County 4- H club member to win the grand championship at the New Jersey 4- H Baby Beef Show at Flemington, October 14. A 17-month-old Black Angus steer he raised took the top prize at the statewide show and was sold at auction the next day. A native of Altoona, Mrs. Wisnieski holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Penn State where she is currently completing work for a masters of business administration. Fnends of 4-H was established in March 1980 as a volunteer support group to assist Extension in promoting 4-H and to help finance educational activities of 4-H’ers and their leaders. York beef club meets The York County 4-H Baby Beet Club held their monthly meeting October 12 at the Oonald Walter Farm. Leroy Bowles gave a demon stration on body clipping and Bill Holloway and Donald Walter talked on calf selection. The Baby Beef Round-up will be held October 27 and 28 at the Thomasville Livestock Barn. Warren County Fanners Fair m August, and two Herefords, one of which also was top in its class at the fair. Harnett said he raised 50 chickens and sold eggs to earn money to pay for feed for the beef, cows and plans to buy three more beef animals. He is a member of Gravel Hill 4- H Livestock Club.
