He .received his B.S. degree (1958), M.S. degree (1959), and Ph.D degree (1962) in animal nutrition from Rutgers University Chalupa joined the faculty of the Dairy Science Department at Clemson University as an assistant professor with both teaching and research responsibilities. He was a visiting scientist at the Animal Research Laboratory, U.S.D.A., Beltsville, during 1969-70. After eight years at Clemson University, he moved to Smith Kline Cor poration as Senior Investigator in the Animal Research Division and later advanced to the position of Manager-Rumen Research. In 1976, the recipient was ap- pointed Associate Professor of Nutrition in the Department of Clinical Studies in the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He was promoted to Professor of Nutrition in 1980. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Dairy Science, and the National Research Council-Subcommittee on Nitrogen Usage in Ruminants. The Award is presented to stimulate research in dairy cattle nutrition. Nelson Philpot. He received his Bachelor of Science in Dairy Production in 1957, Master of Science in Physiology of Reproduction in 1958, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Animal Production and Microbiology in 1964 from Oklahoma State University.
