BY DEBBIE KOONTZ LANCASTER - The third an nual program of the Porkettes, the women’s auxiliary of the Penn sylvania Pork Producers Council, met at the Keystone Pork Congress, Thursday at the Host Farm Resort Highlighting the day-long program was discussion and filmstrips dealing with pork promotion in schools “That’s one of our most im portant roles - promotion of the pork industry We also promote in stores and food stands besides schools,” says Anna Mane Schick, secretary of the Porkettes The day began with a welcome to approximately 60 members, what Mabel Strock, president, describes as “a good turnout ” Dr John Ziegler, Penn State food specialist, presented a filmstrip entitled “Mr Pigg Meets the Press ” The film describes the campaign of a pig running on the nutrition ticket for Congress Ziegler explained that this film strip is used most effectively in schools to teach about pork as well Joanne Ketterer (left), home economics teacher at Ship pensburg High School presented “Preparing Pork Hors D'oeuvres” at the congress.
