C32—Lwcastw Farming, Saturday, Octobtr 4,1980 BLOOMSBURG - There were 28 4-H steers and 23 lambs sold last Thursday evening at the annual 4-H Beef and Lamb Sale at the Bloomsburg Fair. The grand champion steer, a 1115 pound Charolais crossbred exhibited by Barbara Crane of Danville, sold for $1.35 a pound to W. Dean Metzger of Winfield. The contending bidder for the champion steer was Oscar Baumart, Herndon, RD., who was the successful bidder on the reserve champion steer, a 1160 pound Charolais. The champion lamb, sold for $l.OO per pound to Oscar Baumart The 23 lambs sold had an average weight of 99 pounds. The first place lightweight steer exhibited by John Hartman, Danville, weighed 1025 pounds and sold to Oscar Baumart for 82 cents per pound. The first place mid dleweight steer, exhibited by Brenda Moslock of Montour County, weighed 1075 pounds and sold to Keystone Har vestore Systems Inc., Tunkhannock, for 82 cents per pound. The first place light heavyweight steer, exhibited Veterinary Medicine, new fanners short course will cover basic steps in livestock and crop production as well as the economic aspects of acquiring land, taxation and budgeting a farm business. The short course will be held October 25 at the University of Penn sylvania’s New Bolton Center near Kennett Square. Enrollment will be limited to the first 150 individuals who register. OIOANTIC SKLECTION IN Lancaster Farming's CLASSIFIEDS by Dave Hartman of Mon tour County, sold to Oscar Baumart for 76 cents per pound. The steers sold Thursday evening have been under the care of their 4-H member owners for the past ten months, having been pur chased-by the members as 400 to 500 pound calves last fall.
