A4s—Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, August 2,1980 Montgomery 4-H Fair August 20-23 NORRISTOWN - The annual Montgomery County 4-H Fair will be held on August 20-23 at the Mon tgomery County 4-H Center located on Snyder Road near Lansdale. The Fair is open to the public and features displays of handiwork such as clothing, woodworking, crafts, foods, model rockets and many other projects in" addition to the many animal and livestock show entries all of which have been either raised, cared for, trained or created by the county youth in the 4-H program. In ad dition, several classes will be open to 4-H Alumni and parents. Ceremonies will start at 7 p.m. with the presentation of the Outstanding 4-H Boy and Girl in the County, Eric Jones of Schwenksville and Mary Pat McGann of Upper Dublin. Following this will be the presentation of a special program called Hoofbeats Through History, a colorful and entertaining depiction of the horse and its involvement in man’s history and development. Costumed riders will show the use of the horse in sport, war, work and other areas of history. At the conclusion of the horse program, the exhibit building will open to the public to view the many projects that the members will have on display. Also on Wednesday evening, there win be a mini fashion show, several live demonstrations and a rabbit and cavy showmanship contest. The building will close at 9:30 p.m. The Fair activities will start on Thursday morning with a rabbit and cavy bowl contestiollowed by the dairy show. A 4-H dairy goat show will also be featured in the afternoon The building will open at 1 p.m. The annual sheep show will start at 6:30 p.m. in the main tent while the horse grooming and showmanship contest will begin in the horse show ring at 7 p.m. In the evening a special Seeing Eye Puppy Club demon stration will take place in the building along with other presentations. An outdoor film festival is open to all and will feature free films such as the little Rascals cartoons and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The films will start at dusk. All are invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening. Friday begins with the rabbit and cavy show at 9 a.m. till noon. All area youngsters are invited to bring their pets to the open pet parade to start at 9:30 a.m. Ribbons will be awarded in classes such as best groomed, largest, closest to the ground and many more. There will also ' be a costume class. There will be a 50 cent entry fee per animal entered. Due to health regulations, no poultry, pet birds or livestock can be entered. All animals must be in good health and all cats and dogs must have their in noculations and rabies shots up to date. The afternoon agenda will include a petting zoo, large animal dress up contest and the Eastern Pa. 4-H Horse Production Show. A fun Olympics will be held and is open to all youth.
