C2o—Uncisttr farming, Saturday, Jane 28,1980 Junior Cooking Edition (Continued Irom Page Cl 9) OATMEAL DROP COOKIES 1 cup shortening 1% cups sugar 2 eggs 1% cups flour Vz teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon soda 2 cups rolled oats 1 teaspoon cinnamon Vz cup sour milk 1 cup chopped raisms or dates Vz cup chopped nuts Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Silt flour. Measure and add salt, soda, baking powder and cinnamon. Sift agam. Add rolled oats and mu thoroughly. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly. Fold in chopped raisins or dates and nuts and stir until well blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet, spaced 2-3 inches apart. Flatten with a fork. Bake at 350° F. for 12-15 minutes. Makes 6 dozen cookies. Elizabeth G. Add flavoring. Use half butter for good flavor. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Sift flour. Measure and add salt, soda and baking powder. Sift again and add sifted dry ingredients alter nately with milk. Stir until dough is smooth Chill m refrigerator for several hours. Roll out to V 4 inch thickness and cut into fancy shapes. Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 400° F. for 8-10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen cookies. Following the business meeting, a tour of Ashcomb Dairy was given by Mr Hotchkiss.
