BlO—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 14,1980 Livingston shows grand champ steer at York 4-H Preview YORK The York County 4-H Beef Club held their first Preview Show on May 31 at tile York Fairgrounds. The grand champion steer, owned by Emily Livingston, was a Limousin-Angus crossbred weighing 790 pounds. An Angus heifer, B V Pinkie Pnde 49, owned by Christine Shive was named Supreme Champion Heifer. The heifer classes were as follows: HEREFORD HEIFERS Class 1 1. Fulton OAKRYN - Fulton Grange No. 66 held then regular meeting Monday, 8 p.m. at the Grange Hall, Oakryn, Lancaster County when June Dairy Month was observed and Fulton Grange hosted the Pomona Grange visitation meeting. Several Grange women prepared the mix and the men froze 84 quarts of vanilla ice cream which was served at the conclusion of the meeting, together with fresh strawberries, pretzels and iced tea. Pomona Grange Lecturer, Mrs. Dons J. Brown; Mrs. Richard Maule, Coleram Grange Lecturer; and Mrs. Howard W. Miller Jr., Fulton Grange Lecturer, were in charge of the program. The theme was “America My Country.” Mrs. George Hough painted the emblem of the program which depicted freedoms, responsibilities and patriotic songs used in the program. Glenn Hough was the pianist Henry Wenger, Colerain Grange, spoke on “My Responsibility As A Citizen In A Democracy.” Sandra Galbreatb, Fulton Grange, rendered a vocal solo “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor” as is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. Group singing “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” and “America The Beautiful.” Mrs. Richard Maule, Colerain Grange, conducted a quiz on things and places of national in terest. Group singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Scott Stauffer, Fulton Grange, introduced Doug Hershberger who gave his speech “The Cry Of The American Farm Boy” which won him first place honors in the county, district and regional FFA contests and he would be presenting in the state contest at State College. Group singing “God Bless America” concluded the program. Master, Thomas C. Galbreath, presided at the business session. Clifford W. Mrs. Howard Miller an nounced that the Penn sylvania State Grange will hold a horseshoe pitching contest at Center Hall August 9, 10 a.m. Fulton Grange will indulge in horseshoe pitching and other games at the annual picnic July 28. Arba Henry, chairman of the agriculture committee, announced that Dr. George Hanlme, Extension Dairy Specialist from the University of Delaware, will speak at the next meeting of Fulton Grange June 23rd.
