Omdorff’s sweep Belgian draft horse competition HARRISBURG - Ever since the Farm Show opened its doors 64 years ago, Charles B. Omdorff has been entered in draft horse competition. But this year for ttie first time, the 82 year old gentleman from Waynesburg, Green County, was unable to, see his Belgians dominate the championships of their classes. According to Ray Fit zgerald, administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Stabilization and Con servation Service, the 1980 support price for each commodity is at 72.4 percent of parity. Fitzgerald said pulled wool will continue to be supported at a level com parable to the support price tor shorn wool through payments on unshorn lambs. As in past years, shorn wool payments will be based on a percentage of each producer’s return from sales, Fitzgerald said. Currently shorn wool prices are averaging about 85 cents per pound. Any mohair payments will be calculated in a manner similar to wool. However, Fitzgerald said, mohair payments for 1980 probably will not be necessary as it appears that the average price received by producers in the open market will be higher than the support price.
