Omdorff’s sweep Belgian draft horse competition
HARRISBURG - Ever
since the Farm Show opened
its doors 64 years ago,
Charles B. Omdorff has been
entered in draft horse
competition. But this year
for ttie first time, the 82 year
old gentleman from
Waynesburg, Green County,
was unable to, see his
Belgians dominate the
championships of their
classes.
Just before the Farm
Show, Omdorff slipped and
fell, injuring his shoulder.
He didn’t have to worry
about his horses being in
good hands while he was
recuperating though,
because he had taught his

from this year’s $1.15 and
$1,943.
According to Ray Fit

U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Agricultural

support price for each
commodity is at 72.4 percent
of parity.
Fitzgerald said pulled
wool will continue to be
supported at a level com

payments on unshorn lambs.
As in past years, shorn
wool payments will be based
on a percentage of each

announces
average price received by
all producers for shorn wool
m 1980 up to the support
price of $1.23 a pound.
Currently shorn wool
prices are averaging about
85 cents per pound.
Any mohair payments will
be calculated in a manner
similar to wool. However,
Fitzgerald said, mohair
payments for 1980 probably
will not be necessary as it
appears that the average
price received by producers
in the open market will be
higher than the support
price.
