Trading was generally active on a curtailed supply of slaughter cattle sand wiched around the Christ mas holiday. Prices ad vanced rather sharply early as some interests were in need of cattle for immediate requirements, and the up turn in live - prices was supported by an upward spiraling carcass trade. Slaughter under federal inspection was substantially reduced as many plants observed a non-slaughter holiday on Monday as well as on Christmas. The overall finish was attractive with a liberal percentage Choice and a moderate volume Choice and Prime. Best buyer interest still centered on consignments Choice predominantly 3.
