Once again the fed cattle trade followed an erratic pattern despite continued small supplies. Prices were forced sharply downward the forepart of week in reflection of a bearish, slow moving carcass trade and only part of the early downturn was regamed in a forced midweek trade. Buyers were usually selective, and yield grade was a major price determining factor, with best inquiry for con- signments choice predominantly 3. Early demand was usually restricted to minimum requirements, but midweek trading was active as most interests still needed cattle for current weeks quotas. Slaughter steers made up approximately 29 pet and heifers 26 pet, a fair per centage choice included. Cows comprised 9 pet and feeders 36 pet.
