Rus ty, the 1250 pound grand champion steer, had just earned eight year old Fred Weaver $5.30 for each of his champion pounds. The 4-H steer was sold at the baby beef sale on Thurs day, just after having taken top honors in this year’s New Holland fair. The steer was purchased by Hubert Kranich of People’s Restaurant of New Holland. The reserve champion was next on the block. Kathy Martin’s 1130 pound Hereford steer sold for $4.30 a pound. Paul Smucker, of Bird-m-Hand Restaurant, bought this baby beef. A total of 29 4-H steers were auctioned off at the New Holland club’s sale. Grand champion steer sells for over $5 grand A beaming Fred Weaver, sold his 1250 pound Hereford steer to People’s Restaurant of New Holland for over $6,000.
