IS— Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, September 15,1979 CHAMBERSBURG The Franklin County 4-H dairy show was held at the Chambersburg Rod & Gun Club on August 21. The type judge for the show was James McCaffree, Chestertown, Maryland. Four breeds of dairy animals were shown, in cluding Brown Swiss, Jer sey, Guernsey, and Holstein. A total of 126 animals were judged, 94 were from the Holstein breed. Ivan R. Meyers, Green castle, Rl, son of Mr. & Mrs. Mark Meyers showed the only Brown Swiss in the show, receiving a first in the jr. calf division and also grand champion of the breed. The grand champion in the Jersey breed went to Lisa Gsell, Chambersburg, RS. Lisa also had the senior champion Jersey and her sister Lori had the junior champion in the breed. Lisa and Lori are the daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Gsell and attend the Greencastle- Antrim School District. The reserve grand champion Jersey was shown by Cindy Donough, Cham bersburg, R 5. Cindy also bad the reserve junior & reserve senior champion Jersey. Cindy daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Donough and is a freshman attending the Greencastle-Antrim High School. The grand champion and senior champion Guernsey was shown by Kirk Christman, Greencastle, R 3. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. George Christman. Douglas Layman brother of Patricia showed the junior champion Guernsey and the reserve junior champion. Steven Eckstine, son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Eckstine, Mercersburg, showed the grand champion Holstein. Steven placed first in the junior calf class and first in the three and four year old class and was the senior champion winner. The reserve grand champion was shown by Craig Woodring, son of Mr. & Mrs. Merle Woodring, Chambersburg, R 3. Craig’s winner was in the three and four year old class and was the reserve senior cham pion. Junior champion of the holstein breed was shown by Rhonda Fahrney, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Donald Fahrney, Waynesboro, Pa. The reserve junior champion was shown by Thomas Eckstine, son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Eckstine, Mercersburg,'Pa.
