—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 18,1979 16 champion at hog show By DEBRA STRICKLER FREDERICKSBURG Kaye Sweigard, RD 3 Hali fax, exhibited the grand champion market hog at the Dauphin County 4-H and FFA Market Hog Show and Sale at the Lebanon Livestock Auction on August 14. This was a repeat per formance since Kaye exhibited the champion in the 1977 show. The champion was a Duroc weighing 230 pounds at the time of the sale. It was chosen from the champion trio shown by Miss Sweigard. Kaye is a member of the Upper Dauphin 4-H Pig Club and purchased her champion hog from Sweigard’s Durocs of Halifax. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sweigard. Hatfield Packing Com pany purchased the champion hog for $2.40 a pound or a total of $552. The trophy for the grand champion exhibitor was supplied by Grubb Supply Company of Elizabethtown. The reserve champion hog was exhibited by Roy Strohecker of RD 2 Millersburg. His reserve hog was a Yorkshire crossbred and weighed 215 pounds. It was chosen from the champion pen of six shown by Strohecker. Ed Stover, representing the Lebanon Valley Market Association, attempts to place the reserve ribbon on the 215 pound Yorkshire crossbred exhibited by Roy Strohecker.
