—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 25,1978 118 NCA sets convention, trade show dates DENVER, Colo. - Cat tlemen from across the nation will be converging on Kansas City, Mo., in late January for the convention and trade show of the National Cattlemen’s Association, (NCA). The NCA, formed in 1977 through a merger of the former American National Cattlemen’s Association and the National Livestock Feeders Association, will be holding its second annual meeting of the membership. The trade show and main convention events will take place January 23-25 at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Mo. The theme of the meeting will be “Opportunity ... Challenge ...Decision.” “In speeches and discussions, cattlemen will learn of new opportunities and challenges facing the industry, and then they will make decisions jointly on public issues,” said Richard A. McDougal, NCA president. “In addition, cattlemen will go home with new information from the meetings and the trade show that will enable- them to make more profitable in dividual decisions.” Committee meetings will be held on January 23, and the convention’s opening general session will be January 24. “Misunderstanding Stri pped Away ... See the Bare Facts” - is the title of a unique carcass display which will be in the trade show area. Cattlemen will attend seminars when animal and meat scientists will explain the implications of the display - providing guidelines on factors in volved in selecting and evaluating breeding, feeder and slaughter cattle. In the display, bulls, breeding heifers, slaughter steers and feeder calves will be frozen and mounted, with sections cut away, so that cattlemen may evaluate the distribution of muscle, fat and bone. The annual business meeting - when members will elect officers and decide positions on public issues - is set for Thursday morning, January 25. In the afternoon, Cattle-Fax will present the industry outlook at a session called “Dollars, Sense and Cycles.” Guest speakers and „ Cattle-Fax economists will analyze industry trends and project the outlook for 1979 and beyond.
