Angela King has already earned her Keystone Far mer degree and will be running for state office this year. She’s the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. King, Nottingham. Geroldlne Miller, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Miller, Lincoln University, narrowly missed the Keystone Degree honor this Winter, but will be eligible for another crack at it next season. Nevertheless, she has compiled a record of leadership and recognition which makes her in structors, Kenneth Thomp son and Scott Gold proud. Both Geroldine and Angela are members of the parliamentary procedures Geroldine Miller, left, and Angela King are both active members of the Oxford FFA Chapter, and this week -- FFA Week -- one of their respon sibilities was to prepare interesting .radio messages about the FFA. Both of them are also county FFA - officers, with Angela filling the president’s chair and Geroldine serving as chaplain. The FFA has Geroldine and Angela going places in more ways than one. There have been trips to Penn State University and even Kansas City, Mo., where the National FFA Convention is held each year. “Working outside is conversmg with Nature,” says Angela, who is presently employed part time at the Rite-Aid store outside of Oxford. Having grown up on a farm, and still making her home in the country, she is making firm plans for a future on the farm. Specifically, she wants to go into dairy far ming. She already owns six ‘Your Pigs Will Love Holstein heifers and is also working with a small herd of swine. “I like working outside and with the animals,” the young lady told Lancaster Farming recently. Citing her rural up bringing as the reason she became interested in FFA, Angela says ft has helped her develop' 1 a more mature personality. “I can conduct myself better in front of people, including here at the cash register,” she ex plained, as she began to list the advantages of FFA membership. In addition, Angela has found FFA helpful in building leader ship traits and public speaking abilities. She has also developed her in terviewing skills, which last Summer earned her first place in a state-wide contest. That performance secured her a trip to Kansas City to attend the national con vention. That in itself has helped them to find new ideas and knowledge. A lot of their experiences have shaped their lives. While Geroldine became interested in agriculture and the FFA because of her background, Geroldine joined the program because of the encouragement she received from Angela. The two have been close friends for years and enjoy a variety of activities together. Both are members of the guTs track team at Oxford High School, and both are also Riflettes with the band. Angela serves as president of that group. In addition, is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the girl’s basketball team. Geroldine is active on the hockey team. Both have been chosen as FFA sweethearts for their chapter. Geroldine credits the FFA for having turned her into a more open person, adding that she was once a shy individual.
