—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January 7,1978 16 Now is time to order trees FLEMINGTON, N.J. - Whether it’s to be long range reforestation or planting for future Christmas tree sales, now is the time to plan and order seedlings, says C.G. Wettstein, county agricultural agent in New Jersey. Orders for seedlings from the New Jersey operated tree nursery must be submitted by January 31. And orders for seedlings from commercial nurseries should be placed soon, as stocks are often depleted early. Steven Dietrich, area forester, has information on tree planting and can provide advice to the land owner. In the case of state produced seedlings, it is required that Dietrich visit the site and, along with the owner, develop a planting plan. Dietrich’s office is in the Extension Center, phone 201- 782-3915, or 782-4300, ext, 397. The New Jersey Extension Service has numerous bulletins on tree planting, and a list of commercial nurseries with seedlings available.
