The Adams County Poultry Association awarded $4OO to un dergraduate students from Adams County enrolled or planning to enroll in agriculture who have an expressed interest in poultry or another major in agriculture. Michele E. Krichten, of Littletown, was the individual selected by the Department of Poultry Science in consultation with the Adams County Poultry Association to receive the award. Receiving the Eastern Milk Producers Scholarships of $250 each were Dale R. Olver, Honesdale, in dairy production and Scott A. Rhoads, New Cumberland, in animal science. These stipends are given to un dergraduate students in agriculture and are intended to encourage leadership. Four students were awarded the Mason C. Gilpin and Norman F. Reber scholarships of $250 by the Pennsylvania Master Farmers Association. Two of this year’s recipients were male and two female. Judy A. Howe, from Erie, in horticulture, earned the award and Maureen Mc- Poland from Pittsburgh in animal science earned the honor also. In general agriculture, the honored awardee was Richard J. Lotstein, Port Matilda, and Michael Ohler, Polk, animal production, also took the honor. Two undergraduates m agriculture who demon strated interest in the livestock and meat industry, preferably with an animal production major, were given awards of $4OO and $5OO by Hatfield Packing Company, Hatfield, Pa. Those two students, chosen by a faculty committee from the Department of dairy and animal science were Rebecca Perkins, Plymouth, Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 19,1977 - $6OO, and Paul Tuttle, Wyalusmg-$4OO. The Glatfelter Pulp Wood Company, from Spring Grove, provided the D. E. Hess Industrial Forestry scholarship to aid junior and senior forestry students interested in an industrial forestry career. Selected by a faculty committee in the school of Forest Resources was Kurt D. Oswald, Kutz town, who received a $250 scholarship. Both Interstate Milk Producers Cooperative, Southampton, and friends of J. Lin Huber from St. Thomas, Pa., provided an award to Julianne Nagel, Johnstown, in horticulture. Miss Nagel received $5OO. A separate Interstate Milk Producers Cooperative grant was presented to Kelley E. Ritchey, Roaring Springs. This grant is awarded to an agricultural student who is the son or daughter of members of Interstate Milk Producers Cooperative, or if no student is eligible under this qualification, the grant may be awarded to any agricultural student who has demonstrated a need. Rit chey received $5OO. The Pennsylvania Egg Marketing Association also granted a stipend to un dergraduate in agriculture.
