"X, CALL NOW Hygrothermograph aids potato farmers ByKENDACE BORRY NEW TRIPOLI - Blight cast, a program to aid potato farmers in deciding when the risk of blight is present and determining that the crop should be sprayed is functioning at 32 different stations throughout Penn sylvania. Also offered outside the state, a total of 60 stations report to Penn State Blightcast including areas of Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Ohio. The potato farmer in volved in the program has an instrument called a hygrothermograph which records, the temperature, rainfall, and humidity in the potato field, under the canopy of potato vines.
