William (“Bill”) Crittenden, a plant pathologist noted for bis successful work as a breeder of disease resistant soybeans, retired June 30 from the University of Delaware’s College of Agricultural Sciences. During his 30 years with the College, Crittenden was responsible for the release of six soybean varieties, all of them closely tailored to growing conditions on the Delmarva peninsula. Seventeen-year old Pammy helps with the milking, feeding, and cleaning, and is owner of two milking cows and two calves. She has been actively in volved in 4-H for eight years where she is currently serving as 1977's Columbia County Outstanding Girl, she is also secretary and news reporter for the Rifle Club, president and teen leader of the County-Wide Dairy Club and Mt. Pleasnt Community- Club, and secretary and news reporter for County Council. A senior at Central Columbia High School, she is vice president of FHA. After graduation next Spring she plans on at tending nursing school. Alternate Jeannette Shultz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Shultz of Berwick. She is a 1977 graduate of Berwick High School. Her parents own 47 Holstein Dairy cows. Claire Ellen Young is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Young of Drums, Rl.
