—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, Jan. 22, 1977 12 Livestock market and auction news Omaha Cattle Omaha Cattle January 20,1977 Weekly 51 - Cattle - Com pared with the previous weeks close closing prices on Slaughter Steers 50-1.00 lower, heifers were 50-75 cents lower. Cows steady to 50 cents lower, bulls 50-1.00 higher. Four day receipts 13,100 as compared 14,800 previous week and 15,900 a year ago. The fed cattle trade followed an erratic pattern as prices were forced sharply downward the forepart of week, and a midwesk upturn on small marketings was insufficient to offset the early decline. Midweek activity was further stimulated by prevailing storm conditions over the area and a much improved carcass trade. There was moderate pressure to move cattle early in the week, but seller resistance stiffened as prices slumped to the lowest level since late September of last year. The Monday run included a liberal per centage Choice Steers and Heifers, but thereafter the • bulk was good to average- Choice. Steers made up approximately 41 percent and heifers 34 percent cows comprised 18 percent and feeders 5 percent.
