Therefore, it continues to be very im portant to correct soil acidity in order to get the most from any crop. Soil testing can be done at anytime prior to the planting of a crop; however, many good farmers have already taken samples of soil for testing in preparing for the 1977 cropping season. TO PREPARE FOR INCOME TAX REPORTING Because of the late passage by Congress of the Federal Tax Reform Act, there will be a delay in getting tax forms and publication this year. Tax forms, which are usually mailed to individuals in December, will probably not be sent until early January. For Farmers, this will mean a loss of about two weeks of potential filing time. The Farmer’s Tax Guide should be out around the middle of December. Therefore, it is suggested that farm records and accounts can be evaluated and summarized in preparing for the income tax report. TOCHECK VENTILATION SYSTEMS Ventilation systems are facing the heaviest load of the year; many will run almost continuously during the winter and earlyspring months. Operators should be sure the fan blades, the motor, and the louvered shutters and clean. Belts should be tight in order to prevent slippage. Ther mostats should be checked for accuracy by placing another thermometer beside them; be sure the sensing element is clean and free from dust. Clean, well lubricated motors and fans will deliver more air more efficiently. 280-550 lbs. feeder heifers 20.25-25.50, lot Good & Choice 28.00. CALVES 142. Vealers unevenly steady. Tips on Fresh Pineapple Fresh fruits .during the holiday season are almost as much of a tradition as the Christmas tree. And fresh pineapple is no exception. When selecting fresh/ pineapple, consumers specialists say to look for one that is heavy for its size and as large as possible.
