Wheat bought, com WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that the Soviet Union has purchased 300,000 metric tons (11 million bushels) of U.S. Hard Red Winter wheat for shipment in the 1977-78 wheat marketing year (June-May; and at the same time cancelled an earlier purchase of 400,000 metric tons (16 million bushels) of U.S. corn that was to have been shipped in the 1976-77 com marketing year (Oct.-Sept). The sale-cancellation was reported by a private export fim under the Department’s Lancaster 4-H photos in national exhibit ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Photographs by three Lancaster area youths, have been chosen to represent Pennsylvania in the third annum National 4-H Photo Exhibit sponsored by Eastman Kodak Company. Made up of no more than four pictures from each state, the exhibit was first shown at the annual 4-H Congress in Chicago Nov. 28- Dec. 3 and later will be on display at the National 4-H Center in Washington, D.C. The young photographers are; Lisa Bloom, 14, Ronks; Bernard Nissley, 15, Mount Joy; and Bernard’s brother, Darwin, 18, also of Mount Joy. Exhibit photos have been selected by the cooperative extension service in each state on the basis of county and state fair submissions. Kodak has printed and mounted the photos for display, affixing a seal of recognition, and will present each 4-H’er represented with an enlarged print of his or her picture with seal.
