She has also tried her hand at scherenschnitte, crewel embroidery, crotcheting and making jeweled Easter eggs. She says her knitting has advanced enough so that she can “make a nice coat.” A juried member of the Conestoga Chapter, of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, Mrs. Eshleman is also a member of the National Quilting Association. In talking about her work with the GuOd, Mrs. Eshleman pointed out that there is a law which many consumers - and some craftsmen - may not be aware of. She said, “There are stiff regulations for filled items, covering the manufacture' of pillows, cushions, feather beds and other stuffed items.” Only certain, new materials may be used. Persons wishing to sell items they have made must purchase a stamp which allows them to market their items, and hand made items must carry a tag which states clearly that the law has been met. Mrs. Eshleman said this law applies REWORD Reduced prices on stover-saving and haymaking equipment during John Deere’s Roundup of Bargains Come on in and reward yourself two waysdurmg this limited time offer You get the forage harvester, stack wagon or round baler you need to save your stover as a second crop’ and you get instant savings on that stover-saving machine How much discount 7 Check the chart below Then come on in because we re ready to deal on the equipment you need MACHINES 336 and 346 Balers 15Aand 16A Choppers 100 Stack Mover 25 and 34 Forage Harvesters 1207 1209 and 1214 Mower/Condit loners 800 and 830 Wmdrowers 466 Baler Round Balers 35 and 3800 Forage Harvesters 100 Stack Wagon 200 and 300 Stack Movers Hydrostatic Wmdrowers 200 and 300 Stack Wagons Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters 230 Stack Shredder/ Feeder No finance charges imposed until the next use season Ask us for details If dealer inventory of any product listed above is exhausted, can be ordered BA. She also points out that craftsmen who do not follow this regulation are subject to prosecution. With her many interests, Mrs. Eshleman still admits to having other “hobbies.” She said, “I like to cook and I like to make nutritional meals. That wonderful teacher I had made us know the importance of nutrition.” She says she loves the outdoors, and she and her husband used to take long walks in the snow. She also does most of the planting and landscaping around their home. She still sews and enjoys preserving food. “I make my own apple butter and my own snitz,” she said proudly. An important part of her life involves her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Macon Nixon who live in Lan caster and her grandson Bradford. It’s a busy and rewarding life for one of the county’s best known quiltmakers, and Mrs. Eshleman plans to continue to teach and to leam that craft which provides her and others with so much pleasure. $195 $390 $520 $650 $1 040 $1 950 $2 600 KERMIT K.
