Ben Morgan named to his present position he served as a county agricultural agent and animal scientist for the West Virginia University Ex tension Service. Morgan received a bachelor of arts degree from Fairmont State Teachers College and bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University. The award recipient was instrumental in the reorganization of the Penn sylvania Sheep and Wool Growers Association with major emphasis on production Improvement, orderly marketing, and promotion of the consumer’s acceptance of quality lamb and wool. Since 1962 he has been responsible for Extension’s beef cattle breeding program, Pennsylvania beef performance testing program, and feeder calf and cattle sales. He also seived in an advisory capacity to Pennsylvania purebred beef cattle associations in furthering plans for a bull testing station. This effort resulted in the formation of the Meat Animal Evaluation Center, funded and operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in cooperation with Penn State personnel and members of the Penn sylvania Cattlemen’s Association. Professor Morgan assisted in coordinating and authoring beef cattle and sheep handbooks which are in wide demand throughout the United States. He also has authored several hun dred educational bulletins, mimeographs, and news articles. He was instrumental in the development of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition, the largest East. He served as manager for six years, general for six years, general chairman for six years, and co-chairman the past five years. Morgan has served as official judge of numerous livestock shows and state fairs. He was the official judge at the International Livestock Exposition, Eastern States Exposition, Eastern National livestock Show, West Virginia 4-H Ham and Bacon Show, and National Professional Sheep Shearing and National Junior Sheep Shearing Contests. He was granted a six month sabbatical leave in 1971 for an investigative study of beef and sheep production in New Zealand and Australia.
