JOY - Judy Stoltxfus, a member of the E-town - Donegal 4-H Club here and Doris Hershey, representing the Litltr - Manheim 4-H Capon Club exhibited the grand champion'capons at two roundups held Tuesday In Lancaster County. Early Tuesday morning, members of the E-town Donegal 4-H Club gathered at Hostetter's Banquet Hall here for their capon exhibit Doris Hershey Lititz, exhibited the grand champion pair of capons at the Lititz-Manheim Roundup sponsored by the Manheim Rotary Club. John Huber’s entry was named as the reserve champion pair. Milk output decreases HARRIBSURG - Milk production in Pennsylvania last month decreased from a year ago, according to the Crop Reporting Service. Milk production was 566 million pounds, down one percent from a year ago. The number of milk cows in the Commonwealth during October was 686,000 head, unchanged from the previous month but 2,000 below a year earlier. Production per cow averaged 825 pounds in October, down one percent from a year ago but two percent above October 1973. United States milk production during October is estimated at 9,205 million pounds, up 0.9 percent from a year earlier. Judy Stoltzfus, a member of the club and Lancaster County’s Poultry Princess, captured first place with her capons which were sold at a meeting of Mt. Joy Rotary Club,* for $1.30 per pound. The Rotations awarded Judy an additional $l4 for having the out standing capons and project book. Glenn Sauder, son of Mr. 827 pounds, 12 pounds above a year ago and 36 pounds above October 1973. Milk cows on farms during Oc tober totaled 11,126,000 head, down 6,000 from a month earlier and 0.7 percent below a year earlier. Joy R 2, exhibited the reserve grand Champion capons at the same round-up. Later in the evening, Doris Hersbey, a 4-Her from the Lititz-Manheim Club received grand champion award at a round-up spon sored by the Manheim Rotary at Evan's Restaurant. Miss Hersbey’s capon sold for $3l to Mervin Sauder of Sauder Chevrolet in Manheim. The 4-Her’s sister, Linda had shown the reserve grand champion capons at a roundup held last week for the Northern Lancaster Kiwanis. The girls are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. H. Richard Hersbey, Lititz. Huber had been the grand cham pion winner at the round-up held last week also. Both of the roundups were Judged by Prof. Kennit Birth of the Penn State extension. The county Rotary members purchased some 80 birds at the two round-ups making several 4-Hers Just a little richer for the year.
