Farm Women Societies Society 27 Society of Farm Women 27 met September 23 in the garage at the home of Mrs. Lester Hawthorne of Elizabethtown, Rl. A mother - daughter team provided special music. Diane Hawthorne sang, while Hazel accompanied her on the piano. Mrs. Yvonne Miller read Psalms 37 from the Living Bible and lead in prayer. Favor committee is in charge of an exhibit table at the Holiday Homemakers Day, November 13 at the Farm & Home Center. Our next meeting is Oc tober 28 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, to entemtain Society 13 and County Officers. Mrs. John Nissley in troduced Mrs. Greiner of Mount Joy as our guest to demonstrate the art of “Quilling”. She showed beautiful note paper, Jewelry, Christmas tree ornaments, framed wedding invitations and more things she made. She gave step by step instructions of how to make the different pieces used. Wc each tried our skill at making some of the pieces. Many ladles enjoyed ex changing plants and slips brought to share. Society 6 The October 3 meeting of Farm Women Society 6 was based on group par ticipation. It was held at the home of Mrs. Emory Wolgemuth with Mrs. Paul Hess as co-hostess. After group singing each member recited a favorite Bible verse for devotions. The roll call was answered by telling a joke. Sara Holsberg and Katie Brandt told of visiting our “adopted” patient at the Harrisburg State Hospital. Minnie Wolgemuth told of plans for serving the dinner at Wyeth Laboratories in Marietta on October 22. A letter, was read from Faye Stoner who thanked the society for support for her stay in West Germany. Members gave safety hints and Mrs. Milton Eberly reviewed the by-laws of Farm Women. Cookies had been baked by members who brought them and the recipe. The ladies could then pick up from other plates aS many as they had brought. Following this an auction of food items was held with Mrs. Harry Shonk as auctioneer. The next meeting will be held November 8 at the home of Mrs. H. Martin Hoffer. County Convention is to be held on November 1.
