Garden Tractor Pull At Allentown Fair Something really new has been added to this year's Allentown Fair. It is the first annual Homeowners Garden Tractor-pulling Sweep stakes. This extra added attraction on the final day of the fair, Saturday, Aug. 9, will be presented in the Farmerama area. The competition, ac cording to fair officials, is intended to give the average garderner a chance to show off his or her skills as a tractor operator as well as demonstrate the versatility and power of the machines they use to cultivate home gardens and mow lawns. All the tractors must be the garden type with no modifications. Farm trac tors are barred. This requirement does not apply to the drivers, however. As long as they are at least 16 and capable of handling the machine, operators may be either feminine or masculine. There is no sex discrimination. All possible safety measures will be taken. Jolly Caterers The third meeting of the Jolly Caterers Cooking Club met at the home of Mrs. Harold Fry on June 23. After the meeting, ‘lt’s Fun to Bake' girls made custard and had their muffins scored. The ‘Mealtime Magic’ girls had their quick breads scored and then made pineapple upside down cake. Periodically Fred’s head would emerge - if the proper end happened to be up - to see what was going on A Bull called Im personator decided to play musical chairs; jumped and completely cleared die gate on shute 8, and when he came out of shute 9, with rider Keith Groves, Groves stayed with him in all his fury to win first in Bull Riding competition for a score of 64 and $315.56 in cash. Jack Meli of St. Cloud , Fla. was top in Bare Back riding, marking 70 and gaining another $190.00. This was the second week in a row for Wyatt Crotta of Bethany, Conn, to win the Saddle Bronc event. He made $127.40. with a mark of 64. Steer Wrestling was won by Harry Gerhardt in 5.6 Seconds for $260.68. Dale Bibbo ran the Barrel Race in 17.99 seconds for $148.96. Last weeks winner Diane Sleeter was pushing hard but missed first money by .13 of a second.
