The increases in snap bean and tomato acreages more than offset the decline in sweet com acreage. Snap Beans Plantings of snap beans under contract for processing are expected to total 7,800 acres this year, an increase of 18 percent from the 6,600 acres contracted last year. Sweet Corn Sweet corn for processing is expected to be planted under contract on 5,600 acres this year, a decrease of 15 percent from last year’s contract acreage. Tomatoes Plantings of tomatoes for processing under contract are expected to total 7,400 acres in 1975, a 16 percent increase from last year. Nationally, the 1975 prospective planted acreage' of 8 principal vegetables grown under contract for processing in the U.S, in 1975 is estimated at 1,900,400 acres, 3 percent above the 1,842,270 contracted acres planted in 1974.
