Slowly melt butter in shallow pan. Stir in sauce and salt. Add cereal and nuts. Mix until well coated. Heat in oven for 45 minutes. Stir every 15 minutes and spread on absorbent paper to cool. XXX Meat Loaf 1% pounds ground beef % cups oatmeal (uncooked) cup chopped onion IVfc teaspoons salt teaspoon.pepper 1 egg beaten % cup milk Sauce one-third cup catsup 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon prepared mustard Heat oven to moderate (350 degrees) for meat loaf combine all ingredients, mix thoroughly. Pack firmly into loaf pan. Combine all ingredients for sauce and pour over meat loaf. Bake in preheated oven (350 degrees) for about 1 hour. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Makes 8 servings. It seems our work is never done. I painted the dining room and then the porch and there is still more to do. These are extra Jobs beside the regular cooking, cleaning and ironing tasks. My husband has a lot of walnut wood to cut and move as we sold some trees in the winter and the lumbermen didn’t complete their work as we expected. There is always manure to haul. I’ve listed these things because lately I’ve been listening to other families discuss the economic situation and have sensed their fear of losing their jobs. Some indeed have already been laid off. So, I’ve con cluded that maybe farmers don’t know how lucky we are to have our work all laid out in front of us each morning.
