GAS BROODERS FURNACES i • Ida 5 • Notebook Roy Horst age 10 Lebanon riS v» V* These days it seems we are bombarded with historical facts. I was surprised to read recently that exactly one hundred years ago there was a large emigration to Ger many from this country. It appears that times were rough here and so many machinists, typesetters and mechanics tried to get passage to Europe. The article ended by saying that no fanners were among those searching for employment. It stated that even though farming may not “Pay” in a pecuniary sense, we are all dependent on his products to support life. So, no matter what takes place > in the financial, political, social or moral life the farmer is still a universal necessity. These facts were taken from a newspaper called “Lancaster Farmer” published in January of 1875. Things are a bit more quiet here now that the two children have gone back to college and the younger two are in school also.
