Each set that is there is costumed in their own unique way, and there is none that is exactly the same. The Twin Valley Young Farmers set was uniformily and attractively costumed in red and white checkered skirts, white blouses and crenelins for the women and white shirts, navy pants, red and white checkered vests and black bow ties for the men. Zurln of Mt. Joy. by The Producers of Funk’s G- Hybrids. His documented 1974 yield of 157.3 bushels per acre (adjusted to No. 2 com -15.5 percent moisture) was made with Funk’s G-4646. The yield was entered in Funk’s- G Project: 200 national high yield corn growing contest. Announcement of the award was made by James McNeil of Mt. Joy, representing A. H. Hoffman Seeds, Inc. Project: 200 was designed to challenge growers to increase corn yields for greater productivity and profit. Yield results and the agronomic practices used to achieve them are then shared with com growers everywhere. More than 15,000 U.S. and Canadian growers have entered Project: 200 during the past three years, making it America’s most meaningful high-yield corn growing contest. Zurin’s yield of 157.3 bushels per acre was produced on 2.2 acres. He planted the Project: 200 com on April 30 in 30-inch rows at the rate of 22,100 kernels per acre. His fertility program consisted of 128 pounds of nitrogen, 144 pounds of phosphate and 72 pounds of potash per acre. Zurin used herbicides and an in secticide. The Funk’s G-4646 was harvested on November 9 when the moisture content was 21.8 percent. Plant population was 21,900.
