Recipe Exchange. .. Home on the Range This week we are featuring another corn bread recipe. If you have a family favorite recipe for the same dish please send it along. We have been receiving a number of requests for recipes, especially desserts that use a sugar substitute, for health as well as monetary reasons. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean. Grandmother’s Gingerbread Vi cup brown sugar Vz cup vegetable shortening 2 eggs V« cup molasses 1V« cups sifted flour V* teaspoon salt V* teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1V« teaspoon ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon V* teaspoon ground cloves Vz cup hot water In a large bowl combine brown sugar, shortening, eggs and molasses. Blend 365 days of driving pleasure EASY TO BUY-SURE TO PLEASE well. Combine flour, salt, soda and baking powder and spices gradually blend into molasses mixture. Blend in hot water, pour batter into greased and floured 9x9x2 Inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serve warm with citrus fluff. Millie Danile Wildwood, Florida Julia Stauffer New Holland XXX Cranberry Salad 1 pound of cranberries 4 oranges add the rind of 1 peel 4 apples unpeeled 4 cups sugar Grind the fruit with a little coarse meat grinder. Add sugar and mix well. Filling: Soak 1 package of gelatine in one-third cup water. Mix % cup sugar, % cup rich milk and 2 egg yolks. Cook for one minute, stirring all the time. Remove from heat, add gelatine and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Chill until mixture begins to thicken. Then add 2 stiffly beaten egg whites and 1 cup cream whipped. Crumbs: Melt Vh tablespoon butter and 3 tablespoons brown sugar together. Mix with Edna Hurst Denver XXX Graham Cracker Fluff crushed graham crackers. Line bottom of dish with Mt crumbs and pour in pudding cover with remaining crumbs. Chill. XXX Date Balls 1 cup chopped dates 1 cup sugar V* pound butter Vi teaspoon salt 2 eggs, beaten Mix all ingredients in saucepan. Cook until slightly thickened or 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add Vi cup chopped nuts and 2 cups rice cereal. Cool and shape into balls, roll in fine cocoanut. Mrs. Ruth Ann Wilson, Extension clothing and textiles specialist at The Pennsylvania State University, explains that shoes normally stretch and conform to the shape of the foot after several wearings.
