Participants will be selected to represent a broad segment of rural development leadership. Inviting applications to attend the school, Dr. Walter A. Guntharp, administrator of USDA’s Rural Develop ment Service, said rural leaders are faced with a greater challenge today than ever before. Representing a third of the nation’s people living on 90 percent of the land, rural leaders have unprecedented need for knowledge and expertise in the development process in these changing times, he added.
