Mrs. Luther Bennetch, president, led the business session. Contributions and projects were discussed. Planning was initiated for the 30th anniversary in October. Group 3 will entertain Group 9 tonight at Camp belltown United Methodist Church. The next meeting will highlight 4-H activities at Mrs. John Hartman’s Newmanstown RDI home on July 18. Mrs. Jay Levengood was auctioneer. Society 10 Farm Women Society 10 entertained the members of Society 26 at a meetingat Gimbel’s Community Room. After a luncheon and a brief business meeting, the Social Committee conducted the entertainment which consisted of group singing and games .for which prizes were presented. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, July 13, at the home of Mrs- John E. McGrann, 1464 New Holland Pike at 1:30 pm. ? Society 14 Farm Women Society 14' met this month at the Farm and Home Center: They were entertained with an excellent performance by the Martin Mylin Hand Bell ringers under the direction of Mr. Virgil Cooper. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the concert. During the meeting members answered roll call by introducing one of our guests, members of Society 30 and the County Officers. A report of the quilt made by the group was that it was sold and sent to California, a check was received with another'order. The county president, Mrs. Carl Johnson, reported on coming activities of county Farm Women. The county treasurer, Mrs. Milton Funk, gave an interesting survey of her recent trip to Michigan along with other farm women. The group donated $lOO.OO to the county project of the Jaycees Camp. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses: Mrs. John Groff, Mrs. Melvin Stoltzfus, Mrs. Edith Metzler, Mrs. Ira Kreider, Mrs. Amos Ranch, and Mrs. Leon Thomas. The next meeting will be held on July 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the William S. Tiimey 30 150 FRimViLLE PIKE MANHEIM, PA. Society 21 On June 13 Society 21 met at the home of Mrs. Willis Rineer with Mrs. Richard Risk as ahhostess. The roll call was answered by naming an international covered dish they had brought, and the country, with their recipes available. It was moved and seconded that a donation of $25.00 be given to the J. C. Camp. This year the largest amount of women were present at the Spring Ralley with a number of 1,050. The Country picnic would be held at the Lampeter Park grounds with a covered dish. The County Convention will be on November 2 at Lan caster School of the Bible. Forms are available for the Farm Women of the year. A Thank you note was received from Mary Delong. A Report on a recent trip to Michigan was given by Mrs. Clair Delong and President Mrs. James Long. In July we will meet at Mrs. Harold Graybeal’s splash party unless other wise notified. Society 29 On June 17, Farm Women Society 29 met at the home of Mrs'. John Heisey. We traveled to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Noll of Colebrook Rd. Manheim where we spent the evening browsing through their shop, which contained file finest collection of antiques. We returned to file Heisey home for this business meeting and refreshments. The members voted to contribute $200.00 to Camp J.C. Our annual family picnic will be held July 21 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Garner. Mildew stains are caused by a fungus, growth. Always present in the air, the fungus grows in areas that are damp, warm, poorly aired and lighted. Mildew is a thin, often whitish growth produced on many kinds of surfaces. In the home, it is found most often on cotton, linen, rayon, silk, wool, leather, wood and paper. Many manmade fibers resist mildew. In addition to leaving a musty odor, mildew can cause considerable damage. A commercial fungicide will help remove the musty odor. However, if mildew has penetrated the fibers and has been there for sometime, the stain can’t be removed without damaging the doth. Mildew discolors the fabrics and sometimes eats into them so severely that fabrics rot and fall apart. You can use household bleaches, such as liquid or granular chlorine bleaches and powdered bleaches containing sodium perborate or monopersulfate to bleach most mildew stains. As a general rule, do not use chlorine-containing bleaches on wool or silk because chlorine will yellow and damage these fabrics. Some fabrics with special finishes should not be bleached with chlorine either. The finishes may turn yellow or be removed from the fabric.
