Kenneth Brandt, Elizabethtown. Brandt, who is a member of the agriculture com mittee, said he expects the House to vote on the bill within two weeks. After the bill is placed on the calendar Monday, the House has 11 session days to act on it. The freshman legislator said he has heard the Penn sylvania Environmental Council plans to question part of the bill which could result in amendments tacked on the legislation. He is not certain what points the council will attack. Final provisions of the bill provide that a person buying agricultural land who takes the land out of farming would be required to pay the difference between its agricultural assessment and its market value assessment plus the interest over the past five years. The other basic change in the bill calls for unlimited split offs. In other words, any amount of farmland may be taken out of agricultural use as long as the roll back is observed. Brandt said he is op timistic the bill will be passed both by the House and the Senate by July 1. 384-2741 857 5545 932^361 792-0941 927-6210 432-4534 382-4805
