And every smart cranberry shopper knows that good cran berries bounce, bad ones don’t. This unique characteristic of cranberries is used to tell the “good guys” from the “bad guys” during processing. Cranberries which pass the bounce test are good and are packaged for marketing fresh or frozen, or sent on through the processing channels where they emerge in a variety of products - whole berry cranberry sauce, jellied cranberry sauce, cran berry-orange relish, cranberry juice cocktail. These products enable us to enjoy the tangy goodness of ruby red cranberries throughout the year with the greatest of ease. Abundant supplies of cran berry products are available now. Be one of the good guys, and add the good berry with bounce to your fall menus. Needs Determine Which Type Of Vacuum Cleaner To Buy Choose your vacuum cleaner on the basis of whether you have much carpeting or more floor and above-floor cleaning. If you have wall-to-wall car peting or valuable rugs, cleaning these floor coverings may represent the biggest job you want your cleaner to do. An upright cleaner with motor driven brushes and beater bars combine to give a vibrating, sweeping, suction that does the best job in removing deeply embedded dirt from carpets. Suction alone will not clean deeply embedded sand and dirt. But keep in mind that at tachments for upright cleaners may cost extra and may not be as convenient to use in above the floor cleaning. For above the floor cleaning - walls, draperies, upholstery, books and furniture, suction is important here and a tank or canister type vacuum is recommended. Attachments are usually easier to use on these and they are generally included in the price of the cleaner. No matter which type of vacuum you choose, remember that the higher the horsepower in '•« v * ’ Dons Thomas Type of Garment, Not Equipment Determines How Best To Dryclean A most common clothing care misconception is to decide drycleaning by type of equip ment, rather than by kind of garment fabric, points out Mrs. Ruth Ann Wilson, Extension clothing specialist with The Pennsylvania State University. Remember,. that the drycleaning fluid, per chlorethylene, often called “perc,” used in most self-service coin-op drycleaning machines is exactly the same solvent used by commercial drycleaning plants. Only a few materials, such as fur, suede and vinyl are not suitable for “perc.” And fake furs will dryclean satisfactorily. Expensive and delicate gar ments can be cleaned in coin-op drycleaners just as well as in conventional cleaning plants. Again, reminds Mrs. Wilson, it is the type of material and-or ac cessories that determine the cleaning process. Many coin-op stores also have finishing ser vices for those garments that may need pressing or steaming. And over 50 percent of all draperies and slip-covers can be cleaned at coin-op stores at considerable savings. The average eight-pound drycleaning load at coin-op stores puts far less stress on textiles than in commercial plants where the motor, the better the work the vacuum will do. Two things determine suction - the size of the motor and the way the fan is made. That includes the nuibber and size of the blades, size of the fan, and design of the fan chamber in which it rotates. Do not expect a small dusting type cleaner to do the work of a standard vacuum cleaner. These smaller cleaners are designed to be used in small areas or as auxiliary equipment for quick pick-ups or special jobs. Analyze your cleaning needs and buy the type vacuum that will do the best job on two-thirds of your cleaning work. Heavy commercial loads do not permit easy tumble drying to reduce or eliminate wrinkles. Studies show that “spotting” is responsible for a majority of drycleaning errors. “Perc” will take care of about 92 percent of the stains. There are a few that may need special treatment, or can never be removed. It is most important to follow care instructions on garment labels. If they are not clear, ask your retail store laundering or drycleaning plant for more care information when you buy the item. HERE \**« CORN V 2642 ■ 1,9 day maturity A Champion.
