■ '26^-19h<sasMr'"Farmhig; Saturday,- October s, 1973 Hog, Lamb Sales Close Ephrata Fair The Ephrata Fair drew to a close last Saturday with Lancaster County’s first carcass lamb sale. John Mast of Springfield, Pa., bought Christian Herr’s on-foot champion lamb for $1.22% a pound. Prices paid for the other four lambs in the sale were 43 cents, 42% cents, 42% cents and 39 cents. The annual junior market hog sale was held just before the lamb sale. E. W. Martin paid $l.lO a pound for Russel Kline’s 2156-pound champion Duroc. Mike Grube’s 205-pound reserve champion went to the same company for 61 cents a pound. In all, there were some 51 hogs sold in addition to the grand and reserve champions. Only two buyers were present, Martin and the Hatfield Packing, Co., and they paid an average of about 45 cents a pound. The auctioneer for both the sheep and hog sales was Randal Kline. Charles E. Strasbaugh, whose pail measured about one-quarter pound of milk after his vender kicked the bucket. The dairy show was won by Russel Kline, Reinholds RDI, who’s taken a number of trips to the winner’s circle in the past few weeks. Kline’s Holstein took grand champion honors at the show in Ephrata. Kline also took grand champion prizes in the Ephrata hog show and at the Pennsylvania Dairy Show the other week in Harrisburg.
