The Convention is held annually in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Farm Show The Keystone Farmer degree honors are received by only one farm boy in 50 Henry Givler, area agricultural consultant for Lancaster and Chester Counties, and Harvey Smith, area con sultantm Lebanon County, report that under FFA rules not more than two percent of the State membership can receive this honor. The degree is given for out standing achievement m agriculture and rural life To be eligible, the FFA member must have satisfactorily completed at least two years of instruction m vocational agriculture, demonstrated marked leader ship, earned and invested at least $5OO productively, and attained satisfactory achievement in improving the farms efficiency or comfort FFA boys receiving the degree Wednesday are as follows - Lancaster County Wayne Kreider is the 17 year old son of Mr and Mrs. Ellis Kreider, Quarryville RDI He is a senior at Solanco High School and is president of the Solanco FFA s' mv? Wayne Kreider Solanco FFA Chapter Fanner Degrees Awarded to Area FFA Members Chapter. Wayne was also Chapter vice-president last year and Red Rose vice-president last year and Red Rose vice-president for 1971-72. judged dairy cattle two years during State FFA week, receiving a gold medal last year. He judged at Springfield, Mass., placing fourth high individual. He was on the parliamentary procedure team two years, and was president of the first place team at the regional contest. He was also a delegate to the winter FFA Convention Wayne has a number of registered Holstein dairy animals and has also carried projects in corn and alfalfa. He placed second in the 1971 PCIA corn growing contest Wayne is president of his school’s Chapter of the National Honor Society and was vice president of the Solanco Dairy Club He attends the Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church where he was treasurer of the youth group. Delmar Weaver Grassland Chapter Delmar Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs John M Weaver, New Holland RDI, is a 17 year old Grassland FFA Chapter mem ber. Delmar lives on a 106-acre dairy farm, where much of his time is spent working with the cows At present he owns three Holstein dairy heifers and plans to expand this number as soon as possible. He has raised nearly 50 veal calves, 10,000 chickens, 11 market hogs and five acres of corn over the past three years. He has served the Grassland Chapter as treasurer. He received the Star Greenhand and Star Red Rose awards. In ad dition, he was an area public speaker, chairman of the Supervised Farming Program committee, State PAFC delegate, and attended the 1972 National FFA Convention in Kansas City. Delmar is a member of the National Senior Honor Society and is active in the Weaverland Mennonite Church youth group. Robin Ginder, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ginder, Denver RD2, is a Cloister FFA member. He has served the local Chapter as chairman of the community service and scholarship com mittee.
