Mrs Eshleman and I were privileged to be in attendance, and I would like to tell you a little about the program highlights that we found inspiring. The new Secretary of Hous ing and Urban Development, George Romney, read from the Old Testament of the Bible and then made some appropriate comments. After reading from the Bth Chapter of Deuteronomy, he went on to stress in his re marks that our country is of Divine Origin. Among the things which Secretary Romney pointed out was that the Declara tion of Independence was a re ligious rather than a political document. He stated that we cannot hope to transmit our history and heritage without in cluding the religious origins on which they are based. The New Testament reading v'as from Ist Corinthians, Chap ter 12 and was delivered by Senator Jennings Randolph The Bible he used was one given him by his mother Written in the fly leaf of that Bible was the message, “Each for the Other — Both for God” Senator Ran dolph’s brief remarks were bas ed on that theme He referred Members of the FFA are stu dents of vocational agriculture in high school.
