Turkey breeders expect to re duce the number of Beltsville and other light breed hens 3% from the 1088 level. The expect ed number of heavy breed hens to be kept is 4% more than a year earlier. (The 15 States cov ered by this report account for approximately 80% of all breed er hens in the United States, based on the January 1, 1968 in ventory of breeder hens.) Increases in the number of heavy breeder hens are expected in 8 of the 15 States. The larg est percentage increases are ex pected in Minnesota, up 21%; Virginia, up 14%; Texas, up 12%; Missouri, up 10%; and Cal ifornia, up 9%. Light breeder hens are ex pected to decline from a year earlier as follows: Pennsylvania and Texas, 67%; Ohio, 75%; Missouri, 25%; Michigan, 15%; and Virginia, 5%.
