The only other livestock on the farm is about 25 head of steers which are fattened twice a year. Most of the farm, about 44 acres, is in corn, but the Bby’s also raise 2 acres of celery and 6 acres of vege tables. Although John has never held - a state 'PFA office, he has served as secretary of the county chapter, and as presi dent and chaplain of his local chapter. John has also been active in 4-H work, first with baby beef and then branching into his main farming interest, hogs. MELVIN' BRENEMAN Melvin is a 1962 graduate of Lampeter - Strasburg High School, and is the 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. €. Henry Breneman, He presently oper ates the 130-acre home farm in partnership with his father and wuth his younger brother, Larry, who is a senior at Lam peter-S'trasburg. The main farm enterprise is dairy and Hager’s the form of haylagc. Melvin served as chaplain in the state FFA association in 1063-64, ami has held the of fices of sentinel and chaplain in the local Garden Spot Chap ter. .He received the highest slate FFA award in 1962, the Keystone Degree. He also has a history of 4-H activity. He is a past president of the coun ty Guernsey club, and now serves that club as a Junior leader. His plans for the future are closely tied to farming, but he also hopes that at the right time he may be able to further his formal education. Have You Heard? ... Some Hints for Easy Sandwich Preparation When preparing sandwiches for three or more persons at one time, these tips can help make the job go faster. Soften butter or margarine. Place neighboring slices of bread in an even number of rows on a bread board or table top. Use a flexible spatula for spreading a coating of softened butter or margarine to the edges of each slice of bread. Put filling on half the slices and then top with neighboring slices.
