Sue also led the group in the 4-H Club pledge. Secretary and Treasurer re ports were given after which a short discussion followed about 4-H Club Field Day which was held on Thursday, Sewing demonstrations were given by some of the girls. Such bernes aie usually of good quality. Ripe berries may be coveied with a slight to very noticeable hght-coloied bloom which is a natural protective wax ovei the true, darker color. Vanety affects the amount of bloom on the berries Good quality bernes are smooth with no sign of stickiness which may be caused by decay or natural breakdown of the berries Overripe bernes have a dull, lifeless ap- pearance and often are soft and watery, or the skins may be shriveled Mold on berries is a sign of decay. Protect Equipment Investment Because household equip ment repiesents a major in vestment, it’s common sense to protect it with plastic covers tailored for individual pieces, such as mixer, toaster, even washing machine. Washable dust covers are sound insurance, and those made of plastic-coated nylon are inexpensive and can be washed or sponged off with suds.
