LANCASTER POULTRY CENTER Prices Drop Slightly -Live broilers at the Novem ber 14 auction in the Lan caster Poultry Center were down a half cent -from the previous week, but were still three cents a pound above the corresponding sale a year ago. <A total of 56,900 broilers in nine lots change's hands at prices ranging from 16 to 16.4 for -a. sale average of 1€.'24. All ’broilers on offer were •old. '’Three 'lots containing 2,450 Toasters brought 19 to 21.5, ■while 9,700 pullets in six lots sold for 18 to 21.3. Heavy fowl brought 15.8 to 10 for the '4;i7o head in five lots, and two lots of 2,900 leghorn fowl changed hands at 7.9 cents. Two lots of capons sold for '33.6 and 35 for the 450 head, while 1,100 turkeys brought 27.5 for hens and 22 for the toms. Live broiler prices at farms ranged 15.7 to 17.3 for 704, 700 'head including 390,700 head sold at Thursday’s Selby ville, Del. auction. Only one per cent of the sales were at 17.3. Demad ‘was fair for the light auction offerings. Ready to cook demand -was fair with much interest shifted to other holiday items for next week. Estimated slaughter for the week end by eastern shore pro cessors was 583,000 head com pared to the 638,000 head last week end. The Delmarva broiler-feed ratio for the week ending Nov ember 8 was steady with the previous week at 3.3. Broilers during the week averaged 16.31 per pound and mash cost the grower $99.17 per ton.
