He said the leaves on the variety grow closer together on the stalk, and some growers are trying to get too many leaves. He suggested not topping high er than 15 or 16 leaves The new seedleaf variety needs a, high level of fertility to pro duce the high yields of which it is capable, he said. “I feel that the variety should not he written off on the basis of one year’s trial,” Engle said.
