Heavy Offerings Depress Broiler Prices; 20 Cents DelMarYa Top With offerings heavy at the be ginning of the week, broiler prices continued down. The lange at the Tuesday auction of the Eastern Shore Poultry Grow ers Exchange was from 19.1 to 20 cents. Earlier in the week the price had been as high as 21 cents for some birds in the Del Marva area Last week the broiler-feed ratio in the DelMarVa area stayed steady at 41 with feed prices sharing a decline with broilers. The average for the week was 20.28 cents a pound for broilers and $99.82 a ton for feed. A year ago the ratio was 4.8 with a broiler average of 22.37 cents and a feed cost of $94.14 a ton Here is how the broiler market looked at the beginning of the week in the major producing areas. Prices were from 19 to 20 cents for the 168,000 head sold.
