Again, the Clinic offers to this adult the help and understanding of a psychiatrist An adult who is interested for himself can calf the Clinic tor an appoinc incut. The Clime offers out-patient psychiatric evaluation and treat ment of eligible adults and child ren Treatment should not be misconstrued to mean physical treatments such as are used in state hospitals or pharmacologi cal treatment Drugs are rarely ,f ever prescribed; if they are ne cessary the Clinic works in close cooperation with the family phy sician, who is the one to super vise the administration ot drugs. IN A RECENT annual report by D Buell C Kingsley, directoi of the Lancaster Guidance Clinic, services in 1957 had increased 66'7 over the previous year with 2788 interviews held by the staff this year In addition to extended psychotherapy, theie has been an ihcieased demand for consulta tion services, for emotionally dis tuibed children and adults. Many of these patients aie brought to the clinic by their families or come themselves realizing that they needed help The Clinic Board as well as the Psyhiatnst-Director recognizes that psychiatric treatment is just one aspect of the community pic tures of emotional and mental ill ness IN MANY WAYS psychiatnc ticatment is a temporary, stop gap measure until the much need en preventative factors in mental dines can be discovered and bi ought into focus on this very important and puzzling communi ty problem Treatment cannot solve the problem genetics, econ onucs, value standards social mo bility, and all the complications that are encountered in secure family living. The staff of the Lancaster Guid ance Clinic includes a psychiat tnst, psychotherapost and work cis so that they may help all who came asking for aid Although the Clime is open five days a week and Wednesday evenings, there is a waiting list of patients await ing services. ■'MUTmt, vw.u s ,J< acid* for top-growth perform- once. D. 1 Reassessment Program Moving Out To Farms; Be Ready for Visitors Farm owners and operators in Paradise, Clay and Conoy Town ships have recently been visited by field investigators working on the county reassessment project These field investigators are the first evidence that the pro gram is getting out of the paper work and planning stage and moving into the actual reassess ment work. The first persons you will see on the farm are the field in vestigators who are bringing tax maps up to date. In most in stances, they will bring an aerial map to the farm and ask the farmer to trace the farm boundaries on the map. BY DOING THIS, the possibi lity of missing any parcles of land is practically eliminated When unclaimed land is noticed on the map after all surrounding faims have been visited, it gives the mappers a base upon which to start searching for the owner of this land The field investigators will be fallowed shortly by appraisal teams. These men will look at the buildings on the farm and will inquire as to crop yields, waste land and the like Using 1957 Egg Production Sets Record Figures based on reports from 26 Free World Countries show that egg production in 1957 reach ed an all time record of 142 bil lion eggs 2 per cent above 1956 Excluding the U.
