Halla- AFFECT OF PROTEIN ON EGG LAYING Hens getting a diet containing 17 and 18 3 per cent protein laid about 5 per cent more eggs than hens getting 15.7 per cent protein, according to a 10-month experi ment conducted by the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station. The addition of 6.6 per cent sta bilized yellow grease to the diet did not affect egg production very much but feed utilization by hens getting the grease was improved, and egg size was significantly in creased The Tennessee research ers also report that the shells of eggs laid by hens receiving the grease were thinner than the shells of eggs laid by hens getting no grease in their diets. The previous record flue cured crop in Canada, 173 million pounds, was produced in 1954.
